Artist Statement

I am an artist specializing in landscape painting and pottery, currently residing in Calgary, Alberta, after spending most of my life in Ontario and Quebec. In my acrylic paintings, I focus on incorporating texture and movement to capture the diverse essence of the Canadian landscape. While my work leans towards representation, it often retains elements of abstraction, encouraging viewers to connect with their own experiences.

My recent work has been heavily influenced by the southwestern Ontario landscape, which holds a special place in my heart. I've always been captivated by the beauty of the Canadian terrain, finding solace in creating art inspired by the landscapes that have provided me with years of picturesque inspiration. Since my recent move to Alberta, I've been exploring the grandeur of the prairies and their stark contrast to the Rocky Mountains.

My pottery draws from the raw textures and gentle colours of the earth, using locally sourced clay bodies, creating distinctively hand-built, functional pieces.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Western University in London, Ontario and spent many years teaching art in various private and school settings. Recently retired from teaching, I now dedicate my time fully to painting and pottery in both my home studio and Workshop Studios in Calgary.
